Who this is about
Reception is a front desk service based in Singapore. Two kinds of people share information with us: the businesses who use Reception, and the customers who message a business's front desk. This page covers both.
When a customer messages a front desk
When you chat with a front desk powered by Reception and leave your details, we collect what you give us, usually your name, a phone number or email, and the messages you send, so the business can follow up on your enquiry.
For these enquiries, we act on behalf of the business you are contacting. That business decides how your details are used to serve you. We hold and pass on the enquiry so it reaches them.
What we do with it
- Send your enquiry to the business, so a real person can get back to you.
- Keep it in that business's dashboard so nothing gets lost.
- Generate the front desk's replies. To do this, your messages are processed by our hosting and language-model providers purely to produce a reply. They are not used to advertise to you.
What we do not do
- We do not sell your personal data. Ever.
- We do not share it with anyone except the business you contacted and the service providers we need to run the service (for example, secure hosting, the language model that writes replies, and the messaging channel that alerts the business).
- We do not use your details to market unrelated products to you.
Information from businesses
If you run a business on Reception, we collect the details you give us to set up and run your front desk: your business name, contact details, the services, prices and hours you want it to know, and where you would like enquiries delivered. We use this only to provide and support the service to you.
How it is kept
Enquiries and account details are stored in an access-controlled database and are reachable only by the business they belong to, through a private link, and by us to run and support the service. We take reasonable steps to protect the information we hold.
How long we keep it
Enquiries are kept so the business can follow up and refer back to them. You can ask for your details to be removed, and a business can ask us to clear its enquiries, at any time.
Your rights under the PDPA
Under Singapore's Personal Data Protection Act, you can ask to access the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or withdraw your consent to us holding it. For enquiries you left with a business, you can also raise this with that business directly. Contact us and we will help.
